Terms of service

These terms apply when you use the Obscribe app (app.obscribe.com) and this website (obscribe.com). By creating an account or using a workspace, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains what we collect and why.

Obscribe is in beta

Obscribe is an early product that is still in beta. Features may change, move or be removed, and the service may be slower or unavailable at times while we work on it. We keep regular backups, but please keep a copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. Workspace owners can download their workspace at any time from Workspace settings.

Your account

Use your own name and an email address you control, keep your password private, and tell us at the address below if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to use Obscribe.

Your content

You and your teammates own the notes, tasks and other content you put in Obscribe. You give us permission to store, copy and display that content only as needed to run the service for you and your workspace, for example to save it, show it to the members of your workspace, back it up and send the emails you ask for. We do not sell your content or use it for advertising.

Workspace owners decide who can join a workspace and what role each member has. Content you add to a shared workspace is available to its members and stays with that workspace if you leave it or delete your account.

Acceptable use

Please do not use Obscribe to:

• break the law or infringe other people's rights,
• store or share content that is abusive, harassing or harmful,
• try to get into accounts, workspaces or systems you are not allowed to use, or test the service's security without our permission,
• send spam, distribute malware, or put an unreasonable load on the service, including through automated access.

If you find a security problem, please tell us at the address below instead of testing it further.

Optional AI tools

The AI tools work only if a workspace owner turns them on and you add your own key for an AI service. Text you send through them goes to the service you chose, under your agreement with that service. AI answers can be wrong, so check them before you rely on them.

Price and billing

Every workspace starts with a free trial of 14 days. During the trial nothing is charged and no card is needed. To keep editing after the trial, a workspace owner adds the Team plan, which is priced per seat and billed monthly or yearly in US dollars. The current prices are on our pricing page; sales tax or VAT is added where the law requires it.

Seats follow the number of members in the workspace. Adding a member adds a seat and removing one removes it; the difference is prorated on the next invoice. Payments are collected by Stripe, our payment processor, and are charged automatically at the start of each billing period until you cancel.

You can cancel at any time from Settings. Access to editing continues until the end of the period you have already paid for; we do not refund the remainder of a period. When a trial or a plan ends, the workspace becomes read-only: notes, tasks and exports stay available and nothing is deleted. If a payment fails, you have seven days to update the card before the workspace becomes read-only.

We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. A change applies from your next billing period after the notice; you can cancel before then.

Ending your use

You can stop using Obscribe at any time and delete your account from Settings, under Security. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to download your data. If we end the beta or shut the service down, we will give you notice and time to export your workspaces.

No warranties

Obscribe is provided as it is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under laws that cannot be overridden by agreement.

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Obscribe after that means you accept the updated terms.
